Idea of the RIC

While working on a framework project and its development issues, reverse engineering of biological systems came into the sphere of our interests. This is an approach to research that allows you to understand and use the principle of action, the structure and main features of a living organism or part of it.

It is submitted that the processes which occurs in such parts of the brain as the cortex and the neocortex represent the most interest for such way of exploring living organisms. It is believed, that intelligence is located in these departments. The results of the study of these processes are used, for example, for creating the speech recognition systems. Such information systems combine by the name «Artificial Intelligence» or AI.

The classical approaches developed for reverse engineering of intelligence are adapted for the study of cortex and neocortex, as well as higher cognitive functions. However, such methods are not suitable for solving a number of tasks that we set for the developed framework. This is what led us to think about how to conduct a study of biological structures in order to create information-measuring systems, including autonomous systems, that is, systems that are able to produce the continuous self-optimization and the control of both their state and the environment.

In our opinion, the processes occurring in the limbic system and the thalamus are equally important and interesting from the point of view of reverse engineering for managaring the control and the sensory networks. These structures that provide the reception of information from the senses and the adaptation of the organism to the external environment, and also play an important role in the learning of organisms.

There are a huge number of living beings who, without higher cognitive functions, are capable of performing complex tasks within an ecosystem. Artificial information systems programmed at this level would open up ample opportunities for companies and humanity as a whole.

We came to the conclusion that, following the creation of a universal framework, it should be developing in the direction of autonomous systems.

A software complex adapted for self-organization should be created, to which sensory control networks would be connected. With the help of user-designed basic patterns of system behavior that are responsible for the «coloring» of positive and negative experiences, the complex can not only perform its tasks, but also develop in the direction of the user needs.

In this way, without overindulgence by the creation of artificial intelligence, we can develop a primitive artificial bio-information system that determines the optimal way to accomplish the task. This is no less fascinating goal than reverse engineering of higher cognitive functions, and it seems to us that such a model of the system will be most in demand and useful in the near future.

A large number of developers and companies are keen on creating artificial intelligence that would be compared with human intelligence, but none of them even made an ant.
